Slot Powder in World of Warcraft

A slot powder is a finely ground particle of elemental metal, wood, stone or other material that can be inserted into a slot of an item to enhance its properties. It can be applied to weapons and armour to improve their elemental damage and defence, and to grant powerful powder special effects. It can also be traded between players or upgraded at a Powder Master. Fomototo

The power of a powder special increases as its tier is increased, with Tier 6 powders providing the strongest bonuses. The powder special's effect triggers whenever a weapon that has been applied with the powder is used to attack mobs (although some powder specials, such as Courage and Quake, have unique interactions with their targets, such as crowd control immunity).

While enchantments are usually added to weapons and armour in order to boost their damage or defense, powders can be added to items as crafting ingredients. This allows them to be used by the Weaponsmithing, Woodworking, and Armouring professions in crafted weapons and armour. It also applies the powder special's effects to the resulting item, although it will increase its durability cost and require a higher level of Crafting to craft than normal.

Slot powders are obtained from killing Mobs and opening Loot Chests, though they can also be acquired as drops from certain other mobs, such as Powder Spirits and Flarelings. They can also be traded between players, exchanged at a Powder Master for Runes, and transformed into different elements at the Powder Exchange in Corkus City.

While a player can add up to 4 powders to a weapon, the ordering of these powders will determine which one is applied to the weapon first. This is important for weapons with powder specials, as it influences the percentage of neutral damage converted to elemental damage and the type of powder special the weapon gains (e.g. Wind Prison will apply before Curse).

In order to ensure that the powder particles are deposited evenly, the slot powder is often passed over the item being coated several times. This is known as proximity coating and it allows for a relatively high amount of precision in the thickness of the coated layer. This type of coating can be optimized using a variety of parameters, including the width of the wet coated layer, the volumetric pump rate, and the coating speed.

The stainless steel slot sampler is designed to be easy to clean and consists of an outer and inner tube that can be rotated to open and close the device and dispense a powder sample into the container. It can also be fitted with a variety of different tips, from very pointed for sampling dense powders to rounded for applications where you don't want to pierce the container. It is made from chemically resistant 316L Stainless Steel. A Bottle Adapter is available to screw on the top of the sampler to allow you to add liquid samples into your container with ease.
